Marcus Samuelsson : A three star man !

Written by Teddy Tsegaye

Marcus Samuelsson (Kassahun Tsegie), Chef and Co-Owner of Aquavit restaurant in New-York, has certainly excelled in a highly competetitive gastronomy industry.

This 38-year-old Ethiopian Chef has received many praises and awards for his cuisine, but is also the youngest Chef having ever received three stars from the prestigious New York Times.

Adopted by a Swedish couple after his mother's death, Marcus has developed an early interest for the culinary art that will take him all the way to the kitchens of Aquavit Restaurant in New York. First promoted Executive Chef, and then co-owner, he has achieved tremendous success. He appears as a man of taste who enjoys painting , writing, or cooking.

Influenced by his swedish culinary heritage, Marcus' cuisine also has a strong african touch to it, and he always makes sure it does.
Samuelsson has helped bringing attention to an art that is too often ignored on the continent, and is also very active with charity work.
