MUSIC : The Zouk Takeover

Written by Babacar Niang

Zouk, a musical genre born in the french Caribbeans in the 70s and picked up all over Africa is part of the Afro-Caribbean musical tradition. The sensual island rhythms, danced with a partner, have recently taken Europe by storm with hit songs such as Ocean , Emmene-Moi, from West indies artists Thierry Cham, Slai, Perle Lama, etc........
It's under the impulsion of many artists and among them , RnB/Zouk artist Kaysha, that the music is aiming for new international heights, and we can easily predict that the wave will be reaching America soon.
